My name is Michael Pounce. Nice to meet you.
I'm a piano teacher based in Huddersfield. I love music and I enjoy seeing others progress in their ability as musicians. As a child growing up I would listen to music on films and tv and think "I wonder if I could play that?"
This led me to playing from memory a lot of the time and now many years later I have studied and played lots of music. I have played in concerts and in front of schools and churches. I have also produced an album of my own music. Most importantly I have many years experience of teaching and lots of students who I know have improved.
I started music studies at St. Birinus School in Didcot, where I completed my GCSEs, followed by A-Levels in Music, Music Technology and English at Didcot Sixth Forms. From there I travelled to Huddersfield to study Creative Music Technology (BMus Hons). There I did a placement at Barnsley College, where I first got the taste for teaching.
After my degree I went on to do the PGCE in Lifelong Learning at University Campus Barnsley. Through this course I completed over one-hundred hours of teaching and studies which contributed to my knowledge of teaching and pedagogy.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website and if you want to try a lesson with me then don't hesitate, get in touch now before spaces are full!
